Hopefully you didn't pull out your patio furniture like my husband did because it's time to put it all away again. Mother Nature isn't through with us yet this winter. As it turns out, March 2024 could end up being Minnesota's snowiest month this season.

The Weirdest Winter Ever

This winter has been so bizarre with how mild it has been. I really can't complain too much because I've enjoyed the warmer winter but it's also just not right. We need a little snow.

I don't have kids so I'm not sure if this is true but it feels to me that there were almost no opportunities for kids to get out and go sledding this winter. Which is sad because that was one of my favorite parts of winter growing up!

Kids might get the opportunity to sled in the next week or so, though.

Winter is Coming (Back)

Taking a look at the forecast over the next two weeks, it definitely looks like snow is on the way. It may even cause March to be our snowiest month of the winter.

In Duluth, based on The Weather Channel app on my phone, Thursday the 21st could see about an inch of snow in the evening. 1-3 inches is expected to fall on Sunday the 24th and another 3-5 inches that evening. Then Monday we're looking at 3-5 inches during the day and another 3-5 that night. Tuesday, 1-3 inches is expected.

If the worst-case scenario happens, Duluth could see up to 21 inches of snow before we flip to April. Oof!

Moving on to the Minneapolis and St. Paul forecast, for the evening of Thursday the 21st they're predicting 1-3 inches of snow.

Sunday the 24th it really starts to come down with 3-5 inches expected during the day and another 3-5 inches in the evening. Monday, 1-3 inches is predicted and Tuesday another 1-3 inches.

That would mean the Twin Cities could see up to 19 inches of snow before April.

And finally, let's check on the Rochester forecast. For the evening of Thursday the 21st they're predicting 1-3 inches. Sunday the 24th another 1-3 inches is predicted during the day and then another 1-3 that evening. Not much snow is expected for Monday but another inch of snow is predicted for Tuesday.

That means that Rochester could see up to 9 inches of snow before March ends.

If this truly happens, that would officially make March the snowiest month of this winter. Who else isn't excited?
