Here in Rochester, we could be trading our winter parkas for patio weather this Valentine’s weekend, as a surge of spring-like warmth is heading our way that could break some long-standing temperature records.

Record-Breaking Warmth Predicted for Rochester This Weekend

In fact, forecasters say Minnesota's Med City may be on track for one of the warmest Valentine’s Day weekend ever recorded, turning hearts and thermometers way up! The warm weather is expected to start Friday, February 13, 2026, and continue through early next week.

As we know, living in Minnesota means that if you don't like the current weather, wait five minutes and it'll change, right? And that's sure been the case so far this winter. We've already seen more snowstorms this winter than we did the past few years, along with a brutal 10-day cold snap that sent temperatures to double-digits below zero.

How Current Rochester Weather Compares to Past Years

And now, possible record-breaking warm weather is on the way. Seeing as it falls in the middle of February, you wouldn't necessarily think of warm temperatures on Valentine's Day in Minnesota.  And that certainly wasn't the case back in 2021, when the high temperature in Rochester hit a bitter cold -8! Since then, we've had a mixed bag of weather on Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day 2026 Forecast: Will Rochester Set New Records?

But this year, we could add some warmer temps to that table. According to the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) office in La Crosse, WI, Rochester is set to hit a high temperature of 50 degrees on Friday, February 13, 2026. If we get that warm, it would break the previous record high of 47 degrees, which was set way back in 1919!

The NWS forecast for Rochester calls for a high temperature of 53 degrees on Valentine's Day itself, February 14th. While that's certainly mild, it's a little below the record of 58 degrees, which was set on Valentine's Day in 1954.

But on Sunday, February 15, 2026, NWS says Rochester could see a high temperature of 52 degrees. And if we hit that mark, we would break the current record high temperature of 49, which was set back in 1931.
