How to Get a Local Rochester Hero the Recognition They Deserve
We all know someone who is constantly doing things for everyone else! They show up the second someone needs a hand, give up their weekends to help out, and just make Rochester a better place. All without ever asking for a thing in return.
Yeah, those people deserve a little spotlight! And now's your chance to get them that well-earned shoutout.

Nominations are officially open for the 2026 Mayor’s Medal of Honor.
Fun fact: these awards have been around for 43 years, and they're all about recognizing local people who step up and make a genuine difference around town.

And it's not just about big-name leaders, either. The categories cover everything from everyday heroism and sustainability to diversity champions and even local kids who are already finding ways to give back. The ones quietly putting in the work, helping neighbors, or doing good stuff that usually goes unnoticed.
Here’s how to throw someone's name in the ring:
Fill out a quick online form and share why they deserve it. You get up to 400 words, which is plenty of space to brag about how awesome they are.
Just be sure to get your nomination submitted by October 31st. Winners will get honored at a luncheon in early December.
