JUST IN: Several Owatonna ‘Bold & Cold’ Events Postponed Due to Weather
UPDATED 2pm - Friday, January 27, 2023 -- This weekend is going to be a cold one. Organizers of Owatonna's Bold & Cold Festival have decided to postpone some outdoor activities with the dropping temps to keep everyone safe. You can see the full updated schedule below.
It's going to be a cold and wintery weekend in Owatonna -- and that's perfect because we're celebrating winter all weekend long at Owatonna's Bold & Cold Festival.
Bundle up buttercup, we're going outside!
We're hearty bunch of Minnesotans here in O-Town, and we're celebrating everything Mother Nature can throw at us in January. Snow, sleet, ice, bitter cold, blizzards -- pass me a beer!
This weekend's Bold & Cold Festival is jammed with activities for the whole family. The medallion hunt is over because that has been found, but everything else is still a 'go.' Here's a look at what's on tap.
Snow Sculpture Contest ⚠️
Check out the amazing work that's been done in Central Park. Each sculpture you see started with nothing but a block of snow. Team sculpting will take place through Saturday, with a chance to vote for your favorite masterpiece on Sunday. Voting will take place online, Monday, January 30th.
Family Open Swim & Log Rolling
OK, yes, this is indoors! We're hearty, but not that hearty. This takes place from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm tonight (FRI 1/27) at the Owatonna Middle School pool. The cost is $4 per person. Get the family together and splash around during the open swim, and give log rolling a try. Lifeguards and a log rolling instructor will be on hand. On schedule.
Rock On Ice ⚠️
Let's go skating Saturday night from 6:30 to 8:30 at Morehouse Park. Its completely free if you have your own skates, but there's a cost if you need to rent. There will be lots of fun with music, lights, games, and more -- plus a bonfire too. Rescheduled for Saturday, February 4th.
Snowshoeing ⚠️
Ever been snowshoeing before? Here's your chance -- Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm at Brooktree Golf Course. What? You don't have snowshoes? A variety of snowshoe sizes will be available for complimentary use. When you need to warm up a bit there will be hot cocoa and cider available. Rescheduled for Sunday, February 5th.
Luminary Hike ⚠️
This is so cool (literally and figuratively)! Head to Mineral Springs park from 5 pm to 9pm Sunday night. it will be absolutely beautiful. Bundle up! Rescheduled for Sunday, February 5th.
