Have You Ever Eaten Wieners Out Of A Muff Pot?
I learn something new every day.
I went into the lunchroom to grab my food the other day and I overheard one of my coworkers telling another about a big snowmobile trip they had recently taken. Apparently, it was a long trip with very few, if any, stops along the way for fuel, food or refreshments.
I walked in just as they mentioned that they had 'been eating wieners out of the muff pot." It took me a minute to figure out what I was hearing, like when you hear a song from far away and can't quite make out the lyrics, so I asked her to clarify.
It turns out that there is a device one can purchase for a snowmobile called a 'Muffpot,' which is essentially a little crock pot you can attach near your muffler or exhaust.
According to the Snoriders website, the actual, name-brand Muffpot was invented over 25 years ago. Made from food-grade stainless steel, it can withstand temperatures of up to 1,472 degrees!
In 2018, Snoriders quoted Muffpot Vice President of Sales Desmond Tsai as saying that the steel they use is great, because it 'resists corrosion, such as acids, alkalis and cholrides (salt).'
“We created the Muffpot while on a family trip to Colorado,” said Tsai via Snoriders. “While enjoying ourselves out there, the only downside was stopping for lunch. It was never something we looked forward to, as it was usually cold turkey sandwiches. That was when the idea of the Muffpot was born.
Folks here in our building say they have used Muffpots for Hot Pockets, cocktail wieners, pizza rolls and more. They swear by them!
