The Rochester John Marshall Rockets defeated the Owatonna Huskies 76-50 Saturday night in Owatonna in a Big Nine Conference game that was virtually never in doubt.  Minnesota's top college recruit senior 6'9 Matthew Hurt led the Rockets with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in limited minutes because the game had running time in the second half.

Hurt hit is first three shots all from three point range and had 17 points and 8 rebounds at the half.  He didn't score in the second half until the 13:15 mark and really didn't look to score during the stretch.  Hurt's last field goal was a two handed dunk following a steal.  John Marshall junior Lincoln Meister is a nice compliment to Hurt with more of an inside game.  Virtually all his 17 points came from the paint.  He added six rebounds.  Guard senior Simon Werven collected 16 points.

Owatonna was led by junior Simon Havelka with 12 points ,freshman post Evan Dushek with 11 points, senior Steven Eckard had 11 points and senior Jack Hanson 10 points in the game.  The Huskies were much better from the free throw line at home than they were Tuesday against the Faribault Falcons.  Tuesday they were 5 for 20 but tonight hit 15 of 20 free throws.

The Rockets were 13 of 18 from the charity stripe.  I had them with 12 turnovers and Owatonna 13 turnovers.  John Marshall scored 12 points off turnovers.
