
Kasson-Mantorville Wrestlers Place Six at State, Two State Champs
Ten Kasson-Mantorville wrestlers qualified for the individual portion of the Class AA State Wrestling Tournament and six placed with two state champions.
Eighth grader Bennett Berge (42-8) is the 138 pound state title holder and sophomore Patrick Kennedy (30-0) won the 182 pound championship with a 9-2 decision over fellow Section One wrestler Dustin Dittrich of Plainview-Elgin-Millville..
The other Komet placers were eighth grader Logan Vaughn (40-10) 4th at 106.
Senior Jared Johnson (45-5) 3rd at 113. Junior Robby Horsman (42-9) 3rd at 120.
Senior Jim Paulson (38-14) placed 5th at 195 pounds.
The Byron Bears had two state champion wrestlers also. 8th grader Maxwell Peterson (45-2) is the 106 Class AA Champ and sophomore Mitchel Petersen (42-2) the 120 pound State Champ.
Other Big Nine or Hiawatha Valley League placements include:
126 pounds sophomore Charlie Pickell (47-3) of Mankato West 2nd.
145 pounds senior Josh Block (44-8) of Mankato West is State Champion.
170 pounds senior Hayden Strain (34-6) of Cannon Falls placed 4th.
285 pound Champion is senior Zachary Jakes (41-0) of Mankato West.
