KDHL Volleyball Broadcast Tuesday Features Top 5 Teams

The Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Poll has Kenyon-Wanamingo ranked #1 in Class A, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown #5.  The two teams square off Tuesday night in Waterville and the match will be broadcast on KDHL Radio, 920 AM and the KDHL app.

The Knights move down to Class A this season after being a top ten ranked team the last few years in Class AA.  They have a number of key players back from last year's team which was ranked #8 in the final poll.

The Buccaneers were rated #1 much of last season and were upended by Mayer Lutheran in the Section 2A title match last November.  Mayer Lutheran is #3 in the Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Crusaders were upset in the opening round of the State Tournament by last year's Cinderella Medford.  The Tigers made it all the way to the title match against Minneota.

Medford is #2 in the Preseason Coaches Poll.  Minneota is #4.

That will more than likely change the next poll because the two teams played Saturday and Minneota dominated Medford by scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.  The Tigers are at Byron Tuesday and host Pine Island Thursday.

Kenyon-Wanamingo tangled with #8 Class A Caledonia and swept the Warriors 25-22, 25-12, 25-21 in a showcase match in the Twin Cities.

Mayer Lutheran lost to #9 Class AAA New Prague 25-20, 25-15, 25-20.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown opens their season Tuesday.  The Buccaneers travel to Faribault High School to play Thursday.

#6 Mabel-Canton rolled by Leroy-Ostrander last week 25-9, 25-13, 25-9 and plays at Schaeffer Academy Tuesday and hosts Grand Meadow Thursday.

The rest of Class A has Ada-Borup rated #7, Carlton #9, Henning #10.

In Class AA Stewartville sits atop the Preseason Coaches Poll.  The Tigers open their season home against Fillmore Central before going to Rochester Mayo Thursday.

North Branch is #2, Concordia Academy #3, Belle Plaine #4, Marshall #5.

Kasson-Mantorville is #6, Sauk Centre #7, Pequot Lakes #8, Southwest Christian #9. Watertown-Mayer #10.

The KoMets host Rochester Century Tuesday.

In Class AAA the #1 team in the Preseason Coaches Poll is Eagan.  #2 is Lakeville South, #3 Wayzata, #4 Champlin Park, #5 East Ridge, #6 Stillwater, #7 Prior Lake, #8 Lakeville North, #9 New Prague, #10 Hopkins.

Also receiving votes were: Hutchinson, Minnetonka, Moorhead, Northfield, North St. Paul.
