Kolacky Days Will Still Happen, A Majority Of It Only Virtually

Summer, pronounced bummer, 2020 got a little more normal for some. Kolacky Days held in Montgomery will still happen in 2020, only it will be more virtual than in reality. The Kolacky Day's board of directors released a statement yesterday in regards to the summer celebration.

“The Montgomery Area Community Club invites you to join us for a mostly virtual event for the 86th Annual Kolacky Days Celebration. Please remember we are all volunteers and between the entire board we probably have hosted a total of 0 virtual events. We apologize in advance if something doesn’t go right, but we hope we can make it meaningful and memorable even with the current situation. Stay tuned between now and late July as we will update this page as information becomes available. ” - Board of Directors

In the spirit of all things Kolacky Days, the summer festival is holding a competition for the further virtual distance attendee to the festival. According to the Kolacky Day's website, the furthest physical attendee to the celebration hailed from Pasadena California in 1929.

Yes, they still plan on holding the kolacky eating contest, only virtually.

There will be virtual parades, the Tour De Bun run will be your own route, and even a drive-thru mural reveal in downtown Montgomery. It sounds at least initially there will still be a medallion hunt, more details are yet to come on that.

Some of the favorites, at least for those who have attended in years past, like the beer garden, car show, and Grand Day Parade won't take place. The committees and board are considering in the absence of a Grand Day Parade having "a small meandering community parade" that would come to people’s homes.
