Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears the Rochester area may get a chance to dry out a little today but more rain is forecast later in the week, with a good chance currently forecast on the Fourth of July.

The most recent 24-hour rainfall total at the Rochester Airport is just under 7-tenths of an inch of rain, but areas near Rochester saw much higher amounts. Just north of Rochester, Predmore reported 2.3 inches of rain, while Preston was hit by 1.9 inches, and there was a report of just under 1.7 inches in Ostrander.

Over an inch of rain was reported in north Rochester, Zumbro Falls, Lake City, Chatfield, Preston, and LaCrescent.

The storm system also produced a brief tornado touched down in Freeborn County. Officials say it was witnessed by a trained storm spotter about 10 miles northeast of Albert Lea and apparently did not cause any damage. There were also reports of damaging straight-line winds in southwestern Minnesota, where over 5 inches of rain fell near Redwood Falls.
