Check out Anthrax's muscular take on the Kansas favorite "Carry On Wayward Son," a bonus track on the new expanded vinyl edition of the metal band's latest album, For All Kings.

Like many music fans, Anthrax grew up listening to Kansas' 1976 hit, but drummer Charlie Benante admits he had to study up before taking it on – despite having played along to it countless times as a teen. “I had to go back into the hard drive of my brain and remember how to play the song," he told the Aquarian. "We wanted to do it justice."

Released to coincide with a co-headlining tour with Killswitch Engage, the new vinyl set features the 11 songs from For All Kings, along with six sessions demos and three additional tunes: Anthrax's latest cool classic-rock cover (simply called "Carry On" here), an update of the White Stripes' "Black Math" and the original song "Vice of the People," which was previously available as a Japanese-only bonus track.

"We wanted to make something really special for the fans," added Benante, who collaborated on the graphics for the special project. Cover art, he said, is another interest from his youth: "I would sit and stare at them for hours. To me, the artwork meant as much as the music inside did."

Guitarist Scott Ian, Benante, bassist Frank Bello, guitarist Jonathan Donais and singer Joey Belladonna began their KillThrax Tour earlier this week. Shows continue through May.
