Live In Faribault And Have A Tree Down or Limbs Broken? Faribault Compost Site Is Open

The City of Faribault has opened up its compost site a few days early after the storms that moved through the area yesterday. The early opening happened as an effort to assist community members who are dealing with the clean-up from damage caused by high winds and hail.

According to the City of Faribault website:

The Faribault Compost Site, originally set to open on April 18, will be open to the public from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday (April 13-April 15) due to the recent storm. 

The facility, located at 214 NE 14th Street behind the Wastewater Treatment Plant, will also be open Saturday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be closed Sunday, April 17. 

Beginning Monday, April 18, the Compost Site will resume regular hours: Monday 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., Wednesday 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.  It is closed on holidays.

Residents are encouraged to check signs for designated dumping areas. 

Rice County also maintains a compost-recycling center. You can call the county's Recycling Hotline at 507-332-6833 or check the Rice County Yard Waste page for other composting information and options.

For other items that may have been damaged, like non-yard waste items, you can contact your local garbage hauler or the Rice County Solid Waste Facility, 507-332-6833, about getting those items disposed of.
