The American Red Cross will be having blood drives in the local area this month. The Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give, all blood types are needed. Blood donations in the summer results in fewer donations. Donations of blood will go to help those going through cancer treatment or involved in accidents.

Blood donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Two forms of identification are required when donating blood.

There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, July 11, at Ag Power Enterprises, 3555 18th St. S.W., in Owatonna from 9AM  to 3PM.

Also in Owatonna at the St. Joseph's Church, 512 S. Elm St., from noon to 6PM on both Wednesday the 13th and Thursday the 14th, then again on Friday from 8AM to 1PM. Also on Friday the 15th, a blood drive will take place at the Steele County Fairgrounds from 4-9PM.

On Monday, July 18, there will be a blood drive from 1-7PM at the Church of St. Patrick Shieldsville, 7525 Dodd Road, Faribault.

Tuesday, July 26, a blood drive will be at the Blooming Prairie City Center, 138 Highway S., from 1-6PM.

A blood drive will be at Mantorville's First Congregational Church, 515 Walnut St., from 11AM to 5PM on Wednesday, July 27.

Near the end of the month, there will be a blood drive at the Owatonna Hospital, 2250 26th St. N.W., from 9AM to 3PM on the 29th.
