The Tiger King phenomenon has died down somewhat, but that hasn't stopped a local brewery from creating and distributing a beer named Tiger King. The beer features a relatively new strain of hops and is a hazy/New England IPA. I picked up a 4-pack yesterday as my local liquor store had some on hand.

The beer is described on untappd's website/app as a "New England IPA with the main focus on Sabro hops."

Sabro hops are described by beermakers as having "an intoxicating and complex blend of fruity and citrus flavors. It is described as an intensely unique hop, notable for its complexity of fruity and citrus flavors, including distinct tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit flavors, with hints of cedar, mint, and cream." That's according to the Washington Beer Blog.

The beer itself was pretty good. It had your standard hoppiness that IPA's have, I got the hint of lavender in the finish, but it wasn't always consistent so I didn't mind. The beer comes in at 8.6% by volume, but it doesn't have the 'punch' that higher alcohol content beers can have.

As one online commenter said "Carol Baskins would kill for this beer." Overall I'll probably grab another 4-pack to enjoy next to a bonfire in the backyard.

If you are looking to try some, you might want to call ahead to see if Montgomery Brewing has some Crowlers on hand, or your local liquor store to see if they are carrying it.
