The Midwest Dairy Association has scheduled producer meetings starting early this month. All dairy farmers are invited to attend one of the meetings that is most convenient for them. The meetings will include a report from the dairy farmer board member serving the district, an update from Midwest Dairy staff and a complimentary meal. These meetings are an opportunity for dairy farmers to find out how their check-off dollars are being invested and ask questions of board members.

The produce meeting for dairy farmers in Dakota, Le Sueur, Rice and Scott counties will be in Montgomery at the American Legion starting at noon on January 16. The meeting for Goodhue County will be in Zumbrota at the VFW on January 18, starting at 11:30. The counties of Blue Earth, Faribault, Freeborn, Martin, Steele, Waseca and Watonwan will be at Cabela's in Owatonna on March 2, starting at 10AM. Finally the meeting for Dodge, Mower, Olmsted counties will be at the Stewartville Legion starting at noon on March 6.

The Princess Kay of the Milky Way is the most recognized program run by the Midwest Dairy. I had to take this opportunity to put up the picture of the 2016 Princess Kay of the Milky Way Haley Hinrichs from Goodhue. When I am at the coronation every year, I always hope it will be one of the girls I know! I knew Haley so I thought I had the "right" to be the first one on stage to congratulate her and get an interview. I was the second one on stage that night. Her proud dad, Tim, beat me!
