Mike Wants To Retire in Margaritaville
Retirement has been on my mind a lot lately. I'm not financially ready to retire, but I've been thinking about where I'd like to retire. My wife and I own a chunk of property in Texas that we've talked about retiring on but it's in the middle of nowhere and we would have to build on it. Yesterday I saw a news story about a new retirement community being developed in Daytona Beach, Fla., with a Jimmy Buffet laid-back attitude in mind called Latitude Margaritaville. This place sounds like my kind of retirement living and it's accepting applications for adults 55 and older.
This $1 billion project, which is a collaboration between Margaritaville Holdings and Minto Communities, is a tropically themed active-adult community that will feature nearly 7,000 homes set in walkable neighborhoods set around a town center, a fitness and aerobics studio with an indoor spa and lap pool, arts and learning programs, a resort pool, access and shuttles to a separate private beachfront club on the Atlantic Ocean, a bandshell for live entertainment and fine dining with foods and drinks from Buffet's Margaritaville restaurant.
I think I could easily fit in there, now all in need is the $200,000-$350,000 for one of their proposed homes. Maybe I should try GoFundMe.
