Mike’s Five Favorite Tesla Hits
Def Leppard's making a return to the Twin Cities this Wednesday night and will be performing at the Xcel Energy Center, which their website lists as being in Minneapolis and, as most people that haven't been living under a rock for the last few years know, the Xcel Energy Center is in St. Paul. That slight faux pas aside, they're also bringing along with them classic rockers REO Speedwagon and Tesla. I have to be honest, seeing any one of these bands in concert on their own would be exciting but packaging them up as this tour has will make for a good show.
I figured I'd list off some of my favorite singles from each of these bands this week as we make our way toward the day of the show. Today I'll spotlight the American rock band formed in Sacramento, California, in 1981 as City Kidd but changed their name to Tesla after a line-up change in 1984. Over the years they've released eight studio albums, four live albums, 23 singles and more. Here's my favorite five singles from them in no particular order.
- 1
Little Suzi
From the album Mechanical Resonance, this tune made it to No. 91 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
- 2
Modern Day Cowboy
Another single from their 1986 debut Mechanical Resonance. This single peaked at No. 35 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
- 3
Hang Tough
From their 1989 release, The Great Radio Controversy, this song topped the charts at No. 34 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.
- 4
Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)
Also from the album, The Great Radio Controversy, this single peaked at No. 13 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
- 5
Call It What You Want
From 1991's album Psychotic Supper, this single managed to climb the charts and lodge itself at No. 19 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.
