The charges state the deadly collision was witnessed by the young girl's mother. She told police that after giving the 8-year-old permission to ride her bike to a nearby convenience store, she followed in her car and watched as the SUV driven by Jacobson went through the stop sign and hit her daughter. The incident was also recorded by a surveillance camera at the nearby casino, which confirmed Jacobson did not slow down or stop at the stop sign.

Following the crash, the court document indicates the SUV and Jacobson's cell phone were seized as evidence.
