The Cinderella story continues for the New Prague Trojans boys hockey team.  The #4 Section 1A seed defeated top seed Northfield 3-2 in overtime Saturday in Rochester.

The Trojans will face #3 seed Albert Lea Tuesday, March 2, 2022 7:00 p.m. at the Rochester Recreation Center.

Junior goalie Carter Puente continues to be impressive.  He had 34 saves in the win Saturday.

Charlie Turnburg (7) scored the game winner on a power play 2:57 into the extra period after the Trojans scored two third period goals to send the game into overtime.

The Turnburg goal was assisted by John Schmidt (15) and Will Andersen (16).

Sophmore Willy Seymour continued his hot streak.  Coming off a hat trick last Thursday against Faribault Seymour (10) scored New Prague's first goal 10:51 iinto the final period with an assist from Luke Portner (12).

With 2:03 to go in regulation Michael Beckius (4) tied the game with an assist by Owen Wilkins (7).

Northfield took the lead on two second period goals by Big Nine leading scorer Spencer Klotz.His 33rd and 34th of the season.

The first was a power play goal at 2:47 with assists by Kamden Kaiser (22) and Ty Frank.

The second came at 11:05 with Frank (25) having another assist.

Northfield goalie Keaton Walock had 26 saves in the loss.

The Raiders outshot New Prague 28-15 through the first two periods.  The Trojans had 14 shots the rest of the way while Northfield had 8.

The Trojans ended the game 1 of 2 on the power play while the Raiders were 1 for 1.

Big Nine Conference Champion Northfield ended their season 20-6-1.  New Prague is now 10-15-2.

There were no statistics provided to the Minnesota Hockey Hub  from the Albert Lea 4-3 win over Rochester Lourdes.  The Eagles end their season 19-8.

Albert Lea is now 19-8.

In Section 1AA it will be another all Lakeville final in Rochester Wednesday, March 3, 2022 at 7:00 p.m..

Top seed Lakeville South and #2 seed Lakeville North square off after the Cougars throttled Rochester Mayo 6-0 and the Panthers got by Hastings 3-2 in overtime.

Lakeville South ended the game with 31 shots on goal while Rochester Mayof had 11.

The Cougars were 1 of 3 on the power play while the Spartans finished 0 for 2.

No statistical information was provided from the Lakeville North overtime win.
