Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - One child is in the hospital after a boat and barge collided near Ole Miss Marina Friday evening.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 5:45 p.m. that a boat and barge collided and there were several people in the water.

Officials said first responders arrived and located 45-year-old Jermy Koenig of Red Wing and four children in the water. All of the children were wearing life jackets. Reports say that life-saving measures were performed on one of the children, who was transported to the hospital.

The child’s condition is unknown at this time.

Koenig and the three other children were treated at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate the boat was having mechanical problems and was unable to move out of the barge's path. There was no alcohol involved.

The incident is still under investigation.

First Responders from the Pierce County Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office, Ellsworth Wisconsin Fire Department, Red Wing Fire Department, Red Wing Police Department, and Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office were all on the scene.
