According to the Minnesota State Patrol, an 88-year-old man from Kilkenny sustained non-life threatening injuries after rolling the vehicle he was driving in Erin Township Friday afternoon.

88-year-old Harvey Edel of Kilkenny was traveling on Highway 21 when he began to travel off the highway and into right-hand ditch. The 2011 Dodge Pickup then struck a field approach and rolled over.

Edel was transported to North Memorial for treatment of non-life threatening injuries suffered in the crash. At the time of the crash, Edel was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.

It should be noted that currently Highway 99 in Rice and LeSueur Counties is closed for road reconstruction and that is leading to an increase in vehicles traveling on Highway 21 in rural RIce and LeSueur Counties.

Also responding to the scene of the crash were the Rice County Sheriff's Office, Lonsdale Fire and Rescue, Montgomery Ambulance, and North Air Care.
