Last night as the University of Minnesota Gopher hockey team was playing in Madison the Badgers ended up giving the Gophers the lead on an errant pass. The own goal gave the Gophers the lead, but in the end, Bucky Badger got the win 4-3. Check out this own goal.
The nationally fifth-ranked University of Minnesota lost in overtime to the University of Wisconsin.
So far this season the Golden Gophers are 5-4 on the season, with another game against Wisconsin tonight.
Last weekend the Gophers swept the University of Notre Dame, a perennial hockey power, but have struggled in the Big 10 since it was formed several years ago.
Personally, I miss the weekly rivalry games that the former WHCA offered hockey fans in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Michigan. Those instate battles between Minnesota State - Mankato, Bemidji State, University of Minnesota Duluth, and St. Cloud State we're always much watch games, then you threw in the rivalry between the University of North Dakota. To me that was hockey.
