Last night was the official start of Faribault Heritage Days and the weather was perfect, at least I thought so after a very warm weekend stuffed into a tuxedo for my daughter's wedding. It was nice and cool with a light breeze as the various representatives took the stage including the Grand Marshals, Roger and Kathleen Koopmans. This was followed by an evening of local talent for the Talent Showcase and a bunch of free activities for the kids to help usher in the beginning of the annual celebration. The carnival also got rolling with plenty of rides for the young and old alike and of course a bunch of games you can try your luck at and maybe score your best girl, or more realistically your kid, a stuffed animal. There's also a nice variety of food stands, booths and trailers to choose from. If you've got a little change in your pocket, you won't go home hungry.

Today through Saturday you can shop the citywide garage sales plus check the schedule of events for historic tours. Tonight at 5PM, join the town's head honcho for the Mayor's Reception hosted by Community Co-op at 9 Central Ave. N. The carnival rides and food will be available once again in Central Park along with bingo, a concert performed by the Paradise Center for the Arts Band and a free Family Fun Night and Karaoke between 7-10PM. Also, don't miss the model airplane event starting at 6:30PM at the Faribault Soccer Complex.

I hope to see you at the Faribault Heritage Days celebration and make sure you stop by Faribault Mainstreet Car Cruise Night on Friday starting at 6PM on Central Avenue in downtown Faribault.
