The University of Minnesota Extension Service will be sponsoring the 12th annual Rice and Steele County Organic Crops Day this afternoon in Owatonna. The program will be held at the Steele County Community Center on the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna from 2:30-8PM. The cost is just $15 at the door and it includes materials and an all-organic meal. This program is for organic producers but also for those who are considering shifting some or all of their land to organic production.

The agenda includes: soil fertility for organic vegetable production and field crops, cover crops and manure management, interactive effects of cover crops, insect communities, and soil health in corn production, managing weed pressure in organic cropping systems. To wrap up the Organic Crops Day, there will be a producer panel discussion where you can learn firsthand what works and what doesn't in organic production.
