Owatonna's homecoming football game will be part celebration with the return of packed bleachers and a regular homecoming parade, and part reflection with the Tackle Cancer fundraising aspect to the evening. The Huskies are touched by cancer currently with the wife of a coach and the mother of a player.

The Huskies (3-2) host Rochester John Marshall (1-4) at 7:00 pm Friday night, October 8. Catch the call on AM 1390 KRFO / 94.7 FM, on the KRFO app, or on this website. Halftime will feature remarks from members of the OHS homecoming court. Listen Saturday morning at 9:00 am for the High School Coaches Show for the game recap and reports from other coaches.

Friday's parade starts at 1:30 pm Friday near the Steele County Fairgrounds at Elm Street and Park. The parade heads north on Elm to School Street. The new route is necessitated by the road work in downtown Owatonna.

Owatonna beat Northfield last week in the Raiders' homecoming game, with a great atmosphere in the stands and on the field. OHS coach Jeff Williams says, "Our homecoming games are always well attended. They're always a great atmosphere...We're really looking forward to that."

"JM will be a tough opponent. Homecoming always has its distractions that come with it. They're all good distractions, but making sure our kids are focused on the upcoming game and ready to play in it."

"It is Tackle Cancer Night as well. So we'll be asking for donations at the gate to support the Randy Shaver Cancer Research Community Fund. We've been partnering with that group...for an awfully long time."
