Owatonna Man Injured After Hitting Semi Head-On On I-35

An Owatonna man was injured in a  head-on collision with a semi early on Wednesday morning,  in a wrong-way crash on I-35 that the Minnesota State Patrol says involved alcohol.

A 2001 Toyota Camry driven by twenty-one-year-old Samuel Dominguez was southbound in the northbound lanes on I-35 just south of Faribault when it collided head-on with a semi at around 1:08 a.m.

The State Patrol report indicates that there were two semi-tractors involved in the crash.  It wasn’t immediately clear which truck Dominguez collided with, or how the other was involved.  Forty-five-year-old Richard Lee Minton of Missouri was operating a 2011 Kenworth Tractor, and fifty-three-year-old Earl Martin of Wisconsin was driving a 2011 Peterbilt.

Minton was transported to District One Hospital in Faribault with non-life threatening injuries. According to the report, Martin did not sustain any injuries.

Dominguez received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial hospital. The state patrol report indicates that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
