The Explorers Team of the Owatonna Police Department (OPD) brought home several first-place honors from the recent state competition held in Rochester. The report is featured in the OPD's newsletter Just the Facts. The program is for youth ages 14-20 with an interest in law enforcement. Advisors are officers Melissa Michael and Derrick Quinlan.

Team members (pictured left to right in the photo from the Owatonna Police Department) are Maddie Trupe, Emilia Flemming, Madison Ziegler, Dietrich Piepho, Danielle Abbe, Devon Porter, Abigail Morriss, and Hailey Nelson.

The Owatonna team earned first place in white-collar crime, arrest and search, and burglary response. They were second in DWI and field sobriety, took third place in interview and interrogation, fourth in arrest and search, and came in fifth in the traffic crash category.

Just the Facts applauds their effort, "We are so proud of their hard work preparing for this competition and for bringing back so many awards."
