The afternoon started with a pitchers' duel at Morehouse Park in Owatonna. It ended with an offensive onslaught by the Huskies as OHS swept Rochester Century in their season-opening doubleheader 3-1 and 14-0 (five innings).

Owatonna coach Jeremy Moran stated in an email, "Game one was a pitcher's duel. Parris Hovden [OHS senior] was in the circle for the Huskies pitching seven strong innings allowing one run (zero after the first inning), three hits and two walks while striking out 16. Morgan Erickson for Rochester Century pitched six innings giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out 13."

"Neither offense could really get going in the first game as both pitchers came out and pitched really good games. Parris really battled in the circle tonight and kept their lineup in check."

OHS got triples in the opener from Katelyn Bentz and Izzy Radel. In the second game, Bentz ripped another triple and added a double while going 3-for-4 and driving in three. Radel had three hits. Hovden and Samantha Bogen each had 3 RBI in the nightcap.

Moran stated, "Bats really came alive in this game as we scored at least two runs in each of the four innings of offense we had. We still have a lot of things we need to work on to get better offensively, but we saw some good progress already in the first night."

The Huskies are scheduled to host Austin Tuesday, April 12 at 5 pm. Their game against Rochester John Marshall has been moved up from Thursday, April 14 to Wednesday, April 13 when temperatures should be significantly warmer.
