Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car On Hwy 3 In Farmington
Last night at 7:21pm the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a car vs pedestrian accident on Highway 3 in Farmington. Upon arriving at the scene law enforcement found a 38-year-old Farmington woman who had been hit by a 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe.
The pedestrian, identified as April Janeen Sterling of Farmington, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Sante Fe, 28-year-old Frances Robert Mays of Farmington, was uninjured in the crash.
It was determined that Mays was traveling northbound on Highway 3 when he hit Sterling who was crossing Highway 3 east to west on 209th St West.
Road conditions at the time of the crash were snow and ice covered according to the State Patrol report. Mays had a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, 24-year-old Ashley London who was also uninjured in the crash.
Alcohol was not detected in Mays by the State Patrol, it was unknown if any alcohol was in Sterling's system.
