Plan On Spending More Time If You’re Flying Out of MSP This Month
Here's a head's up if you're flying out of the Twin Cities airport anytime during March.
There's nothing like breaking up our long, cold Minnesota winter with a little rest and relaxation out of town-- hopefully someplace warmer. But here's a head's up that you'll want to give yourself plenty of extra time right now if you're flying to someplace warm from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
So what's causing the big back-up? Is it construction in the concourse? Is it because of the coronavirus? Nope. It's all because of... Spring Break.
That's right, Spring Break. My wife and I just flew in and out of MSP on our way down to New Orleans last week and we were told by two TSA and airport officials that things are going to be B-U-S-Y at the Twin Cities airport this entire month, all thanks to people heading out on Spring Break.
In fact, the MSP airport official we talked to Saturday said instead of getting to the airport the usual two-hours before your flight, he's urging everyone to get there at least THREE hours before your flight during March, so you have plenty of time to get through security in time to make it to your gate and get on your plane without getting left behind.
I didn't realize it, but here in Minnesota, March is actually way-busier than the holiday season at MSP, where the days around Thanksgiving are usually billed as the busiest travel time of the year!
