This past weekend the Divine Mercy Catholic Church and School celebrated Spirit Fest: A Family Festival on the church grounds on the southern edge of Faribault. Saturday's activities included a car cruise, soccer tournament, music from Dave Hudson along with food, beverages and a beer garden. I wasn't able to attend Saturday's festivities but I rounded up my wife, youngest daughter and two of my granddaughters and dropped by on Sunday to join in the fun.

One of the first things we saw was the tractor pedal pull. The kids really gave it their all and it was fun to see them participating in a friendly competition. There were plenty of other fun things for the kids to get involved with such as an inflatable slide, hula hoops, huge chalkboard, a straw dive, ring and football tosses, fishing pond and more. There was also plenty of great musical entertainment, under the canopy, provided by the Jim Busta Band featuring Mollie B of "Mollie B Polka Party" fame. Guests were also treated to performances by the mariachi band Mariachi Estrella de MN as they wandered around the grounds. And of course no festival would be complete without food stands selling their delectable treats and, by all accounts from our very own Gordy Kosfeld, a delicious chicken dinner served up inside the church hall.

If you didn't make it this year please make every attempt to be there next year. You'll have a good time and make some memories with your family too.
