
POLICE AUDIO & Update on Miracle Mile Shooting in Rochester

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A fatal shooting this morning in the parking lot at the Miracle Mile shopping center in Rochester was an apparent suicide.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is reporting the victim was a truck driver who had been stopped in the parking lot by a State Patrol Commercial Vehicle unit for a vehicle inspection around 6:45 AM. A news release says troopers were attempting to detain the driver for failing to produce identification when, according to the preliminary investigation, he took out a gun and fired two shots to his own head.
The driver was transported to St. Mary's hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from the gunshot wounds. His name has not been released.
The news release says none of the troopers involved fired their weapons and they were not injured.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Rochester Police Department are investigating the incident.
