Just a short drive from Faribault, in Bloomington, there were multiple reports earlier this week of possible cougar sightings. Bring Me the News says that residents in the Bloomington neighborhood reported two sightings within a three-day span.

In a release, the Bloomington Police said that the neighborhood where this cougar may have been seen is the area of 102nd Street and Chicago Avenue. There has been no photo evidence of this cougar yet.

If you're in the Bloomington area and you think you see a large cat resembling a cougar you're asked to call the Bloomington Police Department at 952-563-4900.

If you come across a cougar anywhere, these are some tips to keep in mind courtesy of the Bloomington Police Department:

  • Keep calm.
  • Make yourself look as large as possible and back away slowly, keeping the cougar in view, and allowing a clear exit for the cougar.
  • Pick up children and small pets immediately.
  • Never run or turn your back—sudden movements may provoke an attack.

You can find a map of everywhere cougars have been spotted in the past 15 years HERE, from the Minnesota DNR.
