Yesterday's power 96 Cool One was Electric Light Orchestra's "Telephone Line" from A New World Record. Released as their sixth studio album in September 1976, it reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and spawned three singles that made it onto the U.S. Billboard Hot 100: "Do Ya" at No. 24, "Livin' Thing" at No. 13 and "Telephone Line" at No. 7, which was the band's first gold U.S. single. A fourth single from the album, "Rockaria!," failed to chart in the U.S. but made it to No. 9 in the UK.

According to information found on Wikipedia, "the band holds the record for the having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits, 20, of any group in U.S. chart history without ever having a number one single."

Please join me today at 4:35PM for another edition of the Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault. Today's Cool One features a band out of Las Vegas, whose lead singer was once the lead singer of Vinnie Vincent Invasion.
