Tuesday's Power 96 Cool One was solo work from John Fogerty and a tune called "Eye of the Zombie," which is also the title track to his fourth solo album. Released on October 1, 1986, this record topped out at No. 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and would be his last studio album until 1997's Blue Moon Swamp. The Cool One peaked at No. 81 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Two other singles from this album managed to get on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, "Headlines" at No. 27 and "Change in the Weather" at No. 3.

This album might not have been an overwhelming critical or chart success but it did nab Fogerty a 1987 Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal and was his first solo album with a backing band. He sang and played all the instruments on his former solo efforts.
