The Power 96 Cool One that I highlighted yesterday comes from Manowar, an American heavy metal band whose music is inspired by a mix of sword and sorcery fantasy and Norse mythology. Manowar, known for their slogan "Death to False Metal," has maintained a core following in the U.S. but they've never really made it commercially here. They are, however, huge in Europe and South America. The Cool One I chose was "Blow Your Speakers" from their fifth studio album, Fighting the World, which they released on February 17, 1987. The album charted only in Sweden, making it to No. 27 on their charts. The fifth track on the album, "Defender," features vocals from actor and director Orson Welles, as a sort of narrator during the song.

Today's Cool One features a German metal band, and no, it's not the Scorpions. Please join me at 4:35PM for the next Power 96 Cool One brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault. Find them online at www.kellysautosalvage.com.
