Power 96 Cool One Recap: Ramones

The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" was the Power 96 Cool One I chose to feature yesterday afternoon. It comes from their 1978 album, Road to Ruin, but wasn't released as a single in the United States until 1980. Even though it is one of better-known songs it failed to crack the charts. The album managed to get on the charts at No. 103 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 32 on the UK Album Chart.

According to Wikipedia, "I Wanna Be Sedated" was written by Joey Ramone while he was in the hospital recovering from burns, on his face and throat, which he received as a result of an exploding kettle of boiling water being used to help treat sinuses. Also although all band members share the last name of Ramone they aren't related, they just use the band's name as their surname.
