I kicked the week off with ZZ Top's "Rough Boy" as Monday's Power 96 Cool One. Taken from their ninth studio album, Afterburner, which was released in October 1985, this single made it to No. 22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and spawned seven singles, four of which made it into the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and two that topped the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart at No. 1, all seven made it into the Top 20.

I've always liked this power ballad and ended up using it on my aircheck tape, yes kiddies I said "tape," that was sent out to radio stations across these here United States in the hopes of gaining employment. Luckily, I was able to land a job here at Power 96 and I didn't have to move anywhere.

Join me at 4:35PM this faternoon for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault.
