The Rice County Relay for Life Committee decided cancer hasn't gone away because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  With fairs, community festivals and a number of outdoor events called off this year's Relay event has made some changes.

The Drive Through Luminaria is from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the Rice County Fairgrounds.  Enter the east side (Rice County Historical Society Museum).

There will be some brief events on the Fairgrounds:

  • 6:00 p.m. Prayer and National Anthem sung by Mikayla Bohner.
  • 6:30 p.m.  Honorary Chairs Rose Holz and her family.  Rose will speak.
  • Community Band will play for about an hour by Bingo area.

Luminaries are $10 each and you can drop them off after personalizing them at the State Bank of Faribault or the Rice County Fairgrounds Friday, August 7, 2020 between 10:00 a.m. and Noon.  You may also call Calista at 952-412-2041 to request bags or have completed bags picked up at your home or business.

Luminaries may also be purchased 10:00 a.m. to Noon Friday, August 7, 2020 on the Fairgrounds.

Purchase a Relay for Life t-shirt.  Available at Star Sports and Apparel in Faribault next to Ace Hardware.

There is a Blood Drive at the Relay from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. which has one appointment left according to the American Red Cross website.  Phone 1-800-733-2767 or go to RedCrossBlood.org and enter Rice County Relay for Life to schedule your appointment.

The event will be live on the Rice County Relay Facebook page.

Uncle B's Last Chance BBQ Shack will be there so you don't have to cook Friday night.

The Relay for Life allows our community an opportunity for celebration of those who have survived cancer.  The opportunity to remember those we lost too soon and fight back against this terrible disease.

With your support, we will keep the flame of HOPE glowing until the day we find the CURE.
