Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn has issued burning restrictions beginning 8:00 p.m. tonight due to an air quality alert posted for the entire state of Minnesota beginning at that time.  The alert runs through Noon Sunday, August 19th.  Sheriff Dunn says electronic permits that have been activated prior to 8:00 p.m. tonight will still be legal since they have an activation number.

The Sheriff says they are requesting those with permits complete their burning before 8:00 p.m. tonight and not burn if it will continue after 8:00 p.m.  Recreational camp fires are also discouraged during the time period according to the Rice County Sheriff.

Sheriff Dunn thanks everyone in advance for their cooperation.  The News Release issued by the Rice County Sheriff's Office includes the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Jim Edgar as another contact concerning the message.
