The Rice County Sheriff's Office announced today they are joined by the State Fire Marshal in investigating two cases of arson.  Both locations are in Bridgewater Township, west of the city limits of Dundas.

Both cases involved vehicles being set on fire, which were parked next to out buildings in close proximity of occupied houses.  The vehicles and out buildings were a total loss.  At this time there have been no reports of injuries due to the fires.

Both of the incidents occurred in the middle of the night according to the Sheriff's Department news release.  The dates and times reported were, March 23 at 12:51 a.m. and March 24 at 1:50 a.m.

Sheriff Dunn says, "We have been very fortunate that no loss of life has occurred and no fire personnel have been injured.  If you have any information involving these cases please contact the Sheriff's Office at 507-334-4391 and ask to speak with an Investigator or Deputy."

I spoke with Sheriff Dunn and asked about the arsons.  He said they did determine both fires were intentionally set and the investigation continues.  That's why they are requesting public assistance in solving these very serious crimes.
