Whoever has started to speed up time can slow it back down any time now. It's hard to imagine that we are at the end of July and about to enter into August. One event that helps kick off the month of August is the Rice County Relay for Life. The Relay is always scheduled for the first Friday of August. This year the event falls on August 7th and yes there will still be a Relay for Life in Rice County. The difference for this year's event is it will be done as a drive-thru.

In a post to social media, the Rice County Relay for Life explains how the event will work due to COVID-19.

The event allows the community to celebrate those who have beaten cancer, remember those who have gone too soon, and fight back against cancer. With 9 days until the event so far over $26,000 has been raised to go towards a goal of $100,000. For more information about donating, or joining a team for the Relay for Life event in Rice County you can head here.

The event will still be held at the Rice County Fairgrounds as it has in the past.

The Luminaria event will start at 6pm and go until 11pm, participants are being asked to enter on the East side of the fairgrounds.  There will also be a blood drive taking place during the event, as the Red Cross will be onsite taking blood donations from 4-10pm.
