Representatives of the Rice County Public Health Department told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners today getting vaccinated is the number one way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

Tracy Ackman-Shaw, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator with the Rice County Public Health and Sara Coulter, Clinic and Community Supervisor pointed out the county is now in the High risk Level of Community Transmission.

Prior to Wednesday the COVID Data Tracker had Rice County listed in the Substantial category.

Categories are Light, Moderate, Substantial and High.  Below is a listing of area counties Level of Community Transmission as of August 4, 2021.

  • Le Sueur- Substantial
  • Dakota- Substantial

According to the Minnesota Department of Health website Rice County now has 70.2% of adults with at least one dose of the vaccine.

Over the past two weeks cases have spiked in Rice County by 275 percent to 111.99 per 100,000 people.  Positivity rate in Rice County is 8.66%.
