Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The Rochester City Council has approved a request to open the Silver Lake swimming pool this summer.

The Park Board last year voted to permanently close the aging facility because of high maintenance and operating costs and low attendance.

A recent citizen push to open it this summer led to the council’s unanimous vote Monday night.

The Park Board will take up the council’s action at its Tuesday meeting.

The city is also expected to open the Soldiers Field pool this summer. Both were closed last year due to the pandemic.
