Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man is facing charges after he reportedly assaulted a woman because she removed her mask while inside a store.

The incident happened around 1:00 pm Thursday at the Kohl’s store.

Police Capt Casey Moilanen says the man was behind the woman at a checkout line when she took off her mask “because she couldn’t breathe.” Moilanen says the man beccame very upset at the woman, began calling her names and “asked if she wanted to fight.”

The 61-year-old woman left the store and while in the parking lot was again confronted by the man. Moilanen says he pushed the woman and she fell to the ground, striking her head.

The woman was still on the ground when officers arrived and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Moilanen says her injuries were not believed to be serious.

The man who assaulted her had left but was later located. He was identified as 29-year-old Levi Solland. He is facing expected charges of 5th-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
