Roseville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A shelter-in-place alert was issued for a Twin Cities suburb today while authorities searched for a teenage suspect in a deadly attack on multiple people at his family's home.

The alert was issued around 10:30 AM by Ramsey County's Dispatch at the request of the Roseville Police Department. Officials say it was only intended to affect the neighborhood where the assaults occurred but it was sent out to a much larger area of the Twin Cities. A similar incident occurred this summer in Pine Island when authorities issued a shelter-n-place alert for residents living near the site of an armed stand-off and it was distributed over a large part of the state.

Police rushed to the teenager's home after another person inside the residence called 911 and reported a 17-year-old family member had assaulted the other occupants of the house with a weapon before fleeing on foot. Roseville police say one person was pronounced dead at the scene and two other people were transported to a hospital with what were described as significant injuries. Two other victims had minor injuries. Officials indicated the deceased victim suffered blunt force injuries.

A news release says the 17-year-old suspect was apprehended by St. Paul police after a person who receives the shelter-in-place alert called 911 and reported seeing a juvenile male without shoes running toward the State Fairgrounds. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
