Everyone is invited to see the house that students in carpentry from South Central College in Faribault constructed during the 2021-22 school year.

The open house is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. this evening at 1106 Cuylle Court which is just of 12th Street Southwest in Faribault.

I drove up and a gentleman from Met-Con gave me a quick tour of the home after I took a picture.

It's beautiful with in-floor heating.  Two bathrooms.  One of them has a gigantic walk-in shower.  There is no basement.

A two vehicle attached garage.  There are no steps going into the home so a person in a wheelchair could own it.

The home is for sale.

The past four years, SCC carpentry students have received valuable hands-on experience building a home from the ground up.  Met-Con supplies the lot, lumber and sub-contractors.

The gentleman I spoke with stated right now Met-Con could use 40 more people on their construction crews.

The SCC carpentry program still has openings for the 2022-23 academic year.  They provide a one-year diploma that enables students to obtrain the necessary skills to get into the industry quickly.

Fall Semester starts August 22, 2022.

More information about the carpentry program is available here.

Cuylle Court is a cul-de-sac tucked away not far from Faribault High School in what appears to be a quiet neighborhood.
