After flooding came through the area Thursday afternoon and into Friday, many highways in Fillmore County have started to reopen.

Early this morning, MnDOT was reporting many roads in Southeast Minnesota were slippery and sloppy, but as the day has progressed, highways have reopened for travel.

Highway 250 to Lanesboro remains closed due to flooding, but Highway 43 between Rushford and Mabel has opened and Highway 16 is open as well. Some highways still have partial flooding and are still partially covered with ice, so be sure to drive with caution.

Flooding remains a concern for the City of Houston. According to their Facebook page, Emergency Personnel is still monitoring the water level of the Root River. As of 5 a.m. Friday morning, the water was still several feet below the top of the levee. At 8 a.m., the river level at Highway 76 bridge was decreasing.

Highways in Houston County remain in normal winter driving conditions.
