Salmonella can be a serious organism which can sometimes cause fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Health people infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.  In rare circumstances, infection with salmonella can result in the organism getting in the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.

Consumers who have the affected product are asked to bring it back to the store they purchased it from.  More information is available by calling the Seneca Foods Consumer Affairs hotline:  1-800-872-1110.
