Every day at about 4:35 p.m. I serve up a music track for your enjoyment called the "Power 96 Cool One" brought to you by longtime sponsor Kelly Auto Parts in Faribault. Recently, I came across a couple of supergroups of sorts and decided to feature them on the Cool Ones. I thought I'd do a little write up about them because I've been getting calls and emails about them.

Yesterday I used a track from a band called Sweet & Lynch. This is a band featuring Michael Sweet on vocals/guitar and George Lynch handling the lead guitar work on the album. You might remember Sweet as the lead singer and guitarist from '80s Christian metal band Stryper. Sweet also covered lead singer duties and also did some guitar work for Boston for a few years between 2008 and 2011. Lynch was Dokken's ax-man and also founded the band, Lynch Mob. The rest of the band is filled out with ex-White Lion and ex-Megadeth bass guitarist James LoMenzo, and ex-Whitesnake and ex-Foreigner drummer Brian Tichy. Their debut album, Only To Rise, came out Jan. 27, and the track I played yesterday was called The Wish. Also noteworthy are Dying Rose, Recover and the title track.

The other band I've recently spotlighted is called Revolution Saints. This band released their self-titled debut album in the U.S. on Feb. 24, also of this year. This band features Jack Blades from Night Ranger and Damn Yankees fame on bass and vocals, Dean Castronovo of Journey, Ozzy Osbourne and Bad English on lead vocals and drums, and guitarist Doug Aldrich from Whitesnake and Dio. Last Friday's Cool One featured the track Back on my Trail. Also give a listen to Turn Back Time and Don't Walk Away.

If you enjoy the music from what was considered heavy metal in the 80s, you'll definitely enjoy these two bands. Keep listening to the Power 96 Cool Ones because I'm sure I'll be featuring tracks from both of these bands in the future.

Just as a tease, today I feature a track from AC/DC's new album, Rock or Bust.
